A study has shown that neuropeptide oxytocin makes it easier to feel for other people. Of the 48, half received an oxytocin nose spray at the start of the experiment, the other half a placebo. They were then shown emotionally stirring photos, for eg, that of a crying child, a girl hugging her cat, a grieving man etc.; and the test subjects were then invited to express the depth of feeling they experienced for the persons shown.
